The Early Childhood Foundational Certificate

This foundational certificate program prepares students with the necessary skills to enter the field as a qualified early childhood professional ready to work with infants/toddlers or preschoolers (age will depend upon the curriculum course and practicum completed as well as each individual’s work and academic experience) in various EEC licensed settings including family child care (FCC), group child care (GCC) and before and after school care or Out of School Time care.

Potential Career Path

The Roxbury Community College EEC Endorsed Foundational Certificate will provide you with the background knowledge and practical application of that knowledge which will prepare you for the following types of jobs:

Assistant teacher in an EEC licensed center
Classroom teacher in an EEC licensed center which includes Head Start
Lead Teacher in an EEC licensed center
Family child care provider

Transfer Opportunities

Certificate programs are designed to lead to immediate employment opportunities. Any student interested in earning a degree at RCC and then transferring to a four-year school is encouraged to consider an associate degree program.
