250+ Community Members at the 2nd Annual Health & Wellness Forum!

On Saturday, September 27, 2025, the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center (the Reggie) at Roxbury Community College (RCC) hosted the 2nd annual Health, Wellness, and Healing Forum as part of the Center's 30th Anniversary celebration. The Forum provided the greater community with a day to prioritize physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional wellbeing. Over 250 community members attended panels, participated in activities, secured resources from Wellness Row, and more!

“I have enjoyed all of the 30th Anniversary events, but today’s forum holds special meaning to me,” said Chief Operating Officer Lauretta Siggers-Benton. “Today’s forum brought together shared commitment and expertise to improve health outcomes in our community.”

The day started with a welcome and warm-up led by Stacy Barlow.  Over the next four hours, the Reggie’s partners offered fun physical activities for community members of all ages. The activity partners included Special Olympics of Massachusetts, Red Sox Foundation, Boston Athletic Association + Boston Running Collaborative, Boston Legacy FC, Sweat Connect, Rev’d the Base, and Sweat Connect.  Boston Public Schools (BPS) held a basketball skills and drills session throughout the day in the gymnasium.

Attendees also enjoyed engaging in thoughtful panel discussions. Petrina Martin Cherry, Dr. Michael Curry, Juan Lopera, and Dr. Bisola Ojikutu led an engaging discussion on the urgent action needed across sectors to close the health equity gap at Unlocking Community Health Treasures: Mapping Our Collective Strength.  Additional panel discussions included:

“It truly an honor to host such distinguished panelists, collaborate with dedicated community organizations, and see so many young people enjoying their time at the Reggie,” said Vice President of Advancement Jennie McDonald-Brown.  “I look forward to seeing all of our incredible collaborators at the closing 30th Anniversary event, A Night at the Reggie, on October 4, 2025.”

In addition to the panel discussions, the Forum included a Wellness Row, where non-profit and community health organizations provided attendees with information, resources, and more.  The community partners included Codman Square Health Center, The Dimock Center, Whittier Street Health Center, DeeDee’s Cry, Boston Public Health Commission, Boston Community Pediatrics, Beth Israel Lahey Health, Joslin Diabetes Center, City of Boston Emergency Medical Services, Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD), Boston Medical Center, Mass General Brigham, Ellie Fund, and more!

The 2025 Health, Wellness & Healing forum brought together community leaders, health professionals, residents, and advocates to engage in critical conversations about mental health, discover sustainable routines and practices for healthy living, address health equity challenges and solutions in Roxbury and Greater Boston, and encourage the community to get moving!
