On Saturday, October 4, 2025, the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center (the Reggie) at Roxbury Community College (RCC) hosted A Night at the Reggie, the culminating event of the 30th Anniversary Celebration. Over 200 guests attended this sold-out event, with in-room donations exceeding $18,000. Throughout the evening, guests honored the legacy of Reggie Lewis, celebrated the achievements of the awardees, and solidified the foundation for the next 30+ years of excellence.
The evening began with a cocktail reception, during which Daren Bascome, co-founder of Proverb, unveiled the Reggie Lewis Center’s new brand. The Reggie’s new brand captures what has always made it special—its legacy of excellence, accessibility, and deep connection to the community. The new logo, inspired by the curves of the track itself, symbolizes motion, possibility, and the pathways this center creates for athletes and neighbors alike. The Reggie isn’t just a building—it’s a living legacy where greatness is discovered and potential is unlocked.
Interim RCC Board of Trustees Chair Izzy Marrero kicked off the program by thanking attendees for their ongoing support and reiterating the critical role that Reggie plays in providing athletic, health, and wellness resources to the greater community.
RCC President Jonathan K. Jefferson recognized the leaders of the past and present who established the Reggie as a center of excellence, including, but not limited to, Alfreeda Harris, Dr. Willie Booker, Dr. Keith Motley, Charlie Ttius, the MSTCA, the Honorable Diane Wilkerson, and the awardees.
“This facility is a testament to community activism and a collective commitment to providing Greater Boston, and our immediate service area, with the health, wellness, and healing resources we deserve,” said Dr. Jefferson. “Thank you for being a critical part of the community that continuously strives for greatness.”
Long-term elected supporters of the Reggie also spoke throughout the evening about their personal connections to the Reggie, and their continued support. Mayor Michelle Wu and Chief of Human Services José F. Massó proclaimed October 4, 2025, “Reggie Day” in the City of Boston. State Senator Liz Miranda, Representative Chynah Tyler, and Representative Russell Holmes jointly presented an Official Citation on behalf of the Massachusetts State Senate, recognizing the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center for “30 Years of Excellence In Fostering Athletic Achievement, Community Wellness, And Opportunity – Serving As A Beacon of Health, Equity, And Inspiration For Generations Across Greater Boston.”
The first part of the speaking program ended with Chief Operating Officer and Interim Executive Director Lauretta Siggers-Benton unveiling the new Reggie Lewis Center video and thanking the Reggie team for their hard work and dedication.
“I’ve genuinely enjoyed serving as the Interim Executive Director of the Reggie Lewis Center, getting to know the team, and supporting the exceptional growth in programs and partnerships over the past few months,” said COO and ED Siggers-Benton. “It has been an honor to participate in the remarkable 30th Anniversary Events and to play a part in developing the roadmap for the Reggie’s future.”
Throughout the second part of the speaking program, the 30th Anniversary Reggie Award honorees were recognized for their contributions. Each awardee was presented with the award and delivered speeches highlighting their continued commitment to the Reggie.
The program concluded with a final thank you to sponsors and a call for additional support from RCC Foundation Board Member Roeshana Moore-Evans and Vice President of Advancement Jennie McDonald-Brown. VP McDonald-Brown announced a transformative $30,000 donation from the Lewis Family Foundation, and encouraged attendees in the room to match the generous gift.
After the speaking program, attendees danced the night away, with Alex J, DJ Real P, and CJ E Bubble setting the tone.
We extend our deepest thanks to all who participated in a Night at the Reggie, with special thanks going to Monica and the Signature Designs team for curating an incredible experience.
