One Book, One Campus: The Many Trails of the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohicans
Tuesday, November 09, 2021, 01:30pm - 02:30pm

The Mohican people are the indigenous people of the Berkshires, and are today known as the Stockbridge-Munsee Community. Despite accepting a missionary in 18th century Stockbridge, and serving in the Revolutionary War to establish the USA, the Mohican people were forced to remove from these lands and persist today in Wisconsin. Tribal Historic Preservation Manager Bonney Hartley will share about the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican people’s deep history in the region, their “Many Trails” of forced removals, and their continuing cultural preservation efforts in the region today.

This event is produced in conjunction with RCC's One Book, One Campus program, which is focusing this year on Joy Harjo's poetry collection An American Sunrise.
