The Arts and Humanities/ Musical Arts concentration prepares students for transfer
to a four-year college or university to pursue a variety of majors in music education
(performance, arranging, composing, history, criticism, and management). The background
provided by study in these areas is also helpful for students considering undergraduate
and/or graduate level training. A bachelor’s degree is essential to obtain entry-level
positions in teaching, arranging, and composing.
However, an associate’s degree is the minimum requirement for individuals pursuing
a career in performing, criticism, and management. Patience, understanding, and the
ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing are also necessary. A multitude
of career opportunities exists for those with a bachelor’s degree in the Humanities,
including teaching, marketing, publishing, arts management, and research and development.
