Born and raised in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, Dr. Faulk is dedicated to improving the lives of those in his community. He is also a proud father, balancing his professional achievements with his commitment to family and community. Dr. Rufus J. Faulk is a distinguished leader and advocate in community safety and public policy. Currently, he serves as the Co-Owner of The Mix, a vibrant space for community engagement, and as Principal of the consulting firm Roxbury USA.
From 2019 to 2023, Dr. Faulk held pivotal roles in the Boston mayor’s office, first as the Director of Public Safety under Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Mayor Kim Janey, and later as Senior Policy Advisor to Mayor Michelle Wu. His commitment to public service is further shown by his earlier positions as the Director of Victim Services for the Massachusetts Department of Corrections and as the Director of the Boston TenPoint Coalition.
