APPLYING IS EASY
It only takes 4 simple steps to enter the “Gateway to the Dream”
- Complete the admission application. High school seniors can give a completed application form and application fee directly to a guidance counselor who will enclose the necessary official transcript and immunization forms and mail them to RCC’s Office of Admissions.
- Enclose a $10 non-refundable application fee if you are a Massachusetts resident. Out-of-state and international students must enclose a $35 non-refundable fee (check or money order required). The in-state fee may be waived based upon an applicant’s financial need.
- Submit original documents of official proof of high school or GED completion to RCC’s Admissions Office. NO PHOTO COPIES ARE ACCEPTED.
All Foreign Educational Records must be EVALUATED by an Accredited Educational Agency performing such functions before being accepted into one of the college’s degree programs.
- Massachusetts Law 105 CMR 220.600, requires all full-time students (12 or more credits) including students in Health Science Programs to present evidence of immunization against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Tetanus, and Hepatitis B in order to attend classes. This information should be submitted to the Office of Admissions prior to registering.

Admission Deadlines:
“New students, Transfer student and Readmit Students must be accepted into the college before the first day of class. This means all documents MUST be received prior to the first day of class. No Admission Applications will be received once classes have started. Online application will not be processed one week leading up to the first day of class.”
Roxbury Community College's doors are open to anyone with a high school diploma, or its equivalent, who wishes to pursue a college education, career advancement, or course work as a personal investment. To provide the academic background needed for individuals without a high school diploma, or its equivalent, the College provides General Equivalency Diploma (GED) test preparation and other college preparatory courses. The Division of Continuing Education (DCE) offers many non-credit courses that are open to students who are not high school graduates.
Through its programs and services, the College seeks to assist students whose maturity and motivation suggest that they can successfully complete a chosen program of study.
Students planning to enroll in either a one-year certificate program or a two-year associate degree program must follow the guidelines specified in the following pages for admission to the College.
Prospective students are encouraged to visit or call the Enrollment Center (617.541.5310) for help with the admissions process or to arrange a visit to the campus. All applicants have the right to review their admissions file at any time during the admissions process. A file review must be requested in writing at least 48 hours in advance of the desired review date. Applicants must also provide proper identification at the time of the review.
Materials submitted by the applicant during the admissions process will not be returned. Certified or notarized copies of required documents may be submitted to the applicants file by mail or in person. The Enrollment Center reserves the right to inspect the original documents before registration. If you are a degree-seeking student applying to the College, please submit the materials described below.
Application Form/Fee
In order to attend Roxbury Community College, prospective students must submit a completed application form along with the appropriate fee ($10 for MA residents; $35 for out-of-state and international students). The Application for Admission is available at the Enrollment Center or online at www.rcc.mass.edu. If applying by mail, a check or money order, made payable to Roxbury Community College, must be included. Cash payments are not accepted via mail.
Immunizations
Massachusetts General Law requires all full-time students (12 or more credits), and all health career and international students to provide proof of immunization against specific diseases. The required immunizations are: Tetanus/Diphtheria (booster within the past ten years); two (2) MMR's (Measles, Mumps, Rubella); and three (3) Hepatitis B immunizations. The Enrollment Center will provide students with an Immunization Form for completion by the student’s health care provider and a Medical History Record Form for completion by the student. Additional immunizations are required for Health Career students, and these forms will be provided once students are accepted into Health Career Programs.
Applicants who have graduated from high school but are unable to secure their high school records, or have been home schooled, should contact the Dean of Enrollment/Director of Admissions to discuss other options that satisfy application criteria. Students may have to take the placement test if they have not taken college-level English, Math, and Science prior to registration.
Submitting False Information
If a student knowingly makes a false statement or conceals material information on an application for admissions registration card or any other college document, the admission, registration or enrollment may be cancelled.
If such falsification is discovered after the student has established an academic record at the college, the student mat be subject to dismissal from the college. Such a student will be ineligible (except by special action of the college) for subsequent registration at the college.
Non-Degree Student Applicants
If a prospective student wishes to take a few classes at Roxbury Community College, he or she may do so as a Non-Degree Student. Non-Degree applicants must take a placement test and meet all course prerequisite requirements in the same manner as degree- and certificate-seeking students. (Check dashes)
Non-Degree students must also declare a major and become matriculated, (enrolled in a degree or certificate program), after completing 12 college credits. Credits earned by Non-Degree students may be applied towards an associates or certificate program. Non-Degree students are not eligible for federal and state financial aid.
Applicants with Disabilities

Home Schooled Students
Roxbury Community College accepts Home Schooled students. Home Schooled students must meet with the Dean of Enrollment Management/Director of Admissions prior to applying to the College.
Readmission to RCC
Students who have previously attended Roxbury Community College, and have not enrolled in classes for four consecutive semesters, must apply for readmission. Readmit students may be asked to resubmit educational and immunizations records.
Application forms are available at the Enrollment Center or online at www.rcc.mass.edu. Readmit students must meet with an advisor at the Advising Center before registering for classes.
Credit for courses taken ten or more years ago will be counted toward the degree or certificate program to which the readmit student is applying at the discretion of the Vice President of Academic Affairs or a designee. Students who have graduated from the College must also complete a new admission application. Students on academic warning or suspension are not permitted to register for classes and must report to the Advising Center for counseling.
Transfer Students
Students who have attended another college may apply transfer credits toward a degree or certificate program at Roxbury Community College. The following criteria must be met:
1. The course must be required for the student’s course of study or fulfill a general education requirement.
2. A grade of "C" or better was earned at a regionally accredited college or university.
3. Passing “P” grades will be accepted for transfer credit only as general elective credits when a student can demonstrate that the "P" grade is equivalent to a "C" or higher.
4. Credits earned ten years prior to enrollment at Roxbury Community College are not accepted for transfer credit unless approved by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
5. A maximum of 30 credits can be accepted for transfer toward an associate degree at Roxbury Community College. A maximum of 12 credits can be accepted for transfer toward a certificate degree.
High School Students
Roxbury Community College encourages high school students to explore the College’s academic resources through programs that cater to their needs and interests. Participating high school students have the opportunity to consider RCC as their ladder towards achieving future academic and professional goals. The following programs launch high school students into higher education learning.
Dual Enrollment
High school students in their junior or senior year who have a 3.0 GPA may be eligible to take a maximum of two courses per semester through Roxbury Community College's Dual Enrollment Program. To be fair, RCC will select the first 30 students on a first-come-first-serve basis who meet any of the following criteria: a GPA of 2.0 (C) or better, first generation to attend college, and interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students MUST take the College’s placement test before being placed into one or more courses
Joint Admissions
The Joint Admissions Program offers students the opportunity to continue their pursuit of a bachelor’s degree at Massachusetts state colleges and universities after graduating from Roxbury Community College. The program reflects an agreement among the fifteen (15) Massachusetts community colleges, the nine (9) state colleges, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Boston, Dartmouth, and Lowell that guarantees admission of students from any of the community colleges to these state colleges or universities provided these students meet certain requirements. To be eligible for Joint Admissions, a student must be enrolled in a designated transfer program and must earn an associate degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Students graduating from a community college with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are eligible for Tuition Advantage, a 33% tuition reduction at a four-year institution. Post Secondary CVTE Linkage Consortium (formally Tech Prep) check names
CVTE Linkage Consortium is a federally funded initiative that assists work-bound youth in achieving their career objectives. It is a program of study that begins in high school and continues at a post-secondary institution resulting in the achievement of an associate degree. High school students can receive college credit at Roxbury Community College for CVTE courses taken at their school that prepares them for entrance into the business, technical, and science fields. Senior Citizens
Residents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts who are 60 years of age or older are eligible to enroll in credit courses in RCC’s Day Division on a space-available and tuition-free basis. However, all fees must be paid prior to the first day of class. Seniors may register with tuition waivers during Late Registration on a space-available basis. Seniors may also register for non-credit courses free of charge on a space-available basis. In the Division of Continuing Education; however, seniors are required to pay both tuition and fees for all credit courses.
CORI/SORI Checks
In order for a student to be eligible to participate in an academic, community, or clinical program that involves potential unsupervised contact with children, the disabled, or the elderly, the student may be required to undergo a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check and/or a Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) check. Students found to have certain criminal convictions, or pending criminal actions, will be presumed ineligible to participate in such activities. The College is authorized by the Commonwealth’s Criminal History Systems Board, pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 6, Sections 167-178B, to access CORI records. The College shall refer to regulations issued by the Commonwealth’s Executive Office of Health and Human Services, 101 Code of Massachusetts Regulations 15.00-15.16, as guidance when assessing student CORI records. Sex Offender checks shall be performed pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 6, Sections 178C-178P.
