The Community Relations Intern will have an opportunity to learn the various types of networking and communication methods necessary for participating in and planning community events, as well as assist in other on-going projects within the department.


Zoo New England encourages the intern to partake in a variety of new and exciting tasks that may include:
-Learning about and assisting in all the stages of community celebration events planning and execution (including helping to conceptualize the theme of an event, coordinating logistics and assisting with community partnership connections).
-Assisting with research on diverse community groups, organizations, and businesses, as well as
providing other community relations support as needed.
-Gaining valuable skills for work in nonprofit.

 

Skills Gained:
The Community Relations intern can expect to gain valuable experience by being immersed into a wide range of learning opportunities. The intern will obtain insight into the role of the Community Relations department at
a nonprofit organization, while developing important communication and organizational skills.

Benefits include free entrance to the Zoo during duration of internship, opportunities to attend special events and great experience to add to a resume. Zoo New England will also work with the intern to meet requirements
for course credit, provide letters of reference for future job opportunities and create/enhance a portfolio.

 

Dates/Hours:
The dates and hours of this internship are flexible; however, the intern must be available for occasional
weekend and evening events. Hours are TBD depending on applicant's schedule, but will range from 15 to 30
hours per week. Regular Zoo office hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
