Coach Mark Leszczyk is entering his fifth year with the Roxbury Community College Women’s Basketball Team.  Last season, Leszczyk led the Lady Tigers to a 29-3 regular season record (18-0 in MCCAC Conference), a MCCAC Conference Championship, and a runner-up finish at the Region XXI Qualifying Tournament. 

 

Throughout the season, two of Leszczyk’s players were named NJCAA Division III Player of the Week, and the Lady Tigers as a whole were ranked in the Top 10 Nationally for the majority of the season.  Leszczyk was named the NJCAA Region XXI Coach of the Year.  RCC has qualified for the post-season in each of Leszczyk’s three seasons.

 

Leszczyk is a Glocester, R.I., resident with several years of coaching experience.  He came to RCC in 2007 after three years of coaching Dean College’s Women’s Basketball Team, which he guided to a 55-21 overall record and back-to-back appearances in the NJCAA Region XXI Div II Championship Games.

During his Dean tenure, Leszczyk helped two of his players earn Academic All-American honors and several players earn scholarships to Division I and Division II colleges that play at the NCAA level. Six players received Academic Achievement awards from Dean.

Leszczyk founded Rhode Island’s Ocean State Pride Amateur Athletic Union program.  He is also the Region I Northeast Representative for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.
