This three-credit Internship Course is designed for students in Business, Broadcast Media & Technology, Computer & Information Systems, Humanities, Office Technology, Science, and Liberal Arts majors to gain hands-on experience, resume builder and an opportunity to network. It is offered during the fall and spring semester and may be used fulfill a course requirement or elective (see individual Program of Study for more details).
Pre-requisites are enrolled in a degree or certificate program, completion of English Composition 101, three courses in major and posses a minimum 2.0 GPA. Students are required to meet with the Internship Counselor prior to registering to complete an In-Class Contract, develop a resume, cover letter, references and identify potential placements site to interview with. Students majoring in SCI will also need a faculty recommendation.
During the semester interns will periodically meet with the Internship Counselor and an Assigned Internship Faculty Advisor from their program of study. Interns are required to complete Weekly Time Sheets (150 hours for the semester – minimum 10 hours per week), assigned on-line readings, post his/her reflections of readings to the “Internship Blog”, mid-term project and final project which will include participation in a Poster Presentations. Students currently employed in their program of study may be eligible to combine internship with employment.
