General internship functions may include:
-Preparing for and managing volunteer groups for specific tasks on grounds.
-Answering emails, letters, and phone calls in regards to the volunteer program.
-Assist in Volunteer Website maintenance.
-Work with staff to ensure all volunteers are performing their jobs according to the sign description.
-Represent Zoo New England at all times.
-Data entry and other administrative duties as needed
Skills Gained:
The Development intern can expect to gain valuable experience by being immersed into a wide range of learning opportunities. The intern will obtain insight into the role of volunteers as a support system for non-profit organizations. Increase communication and public speaking skills.
Benefits include free entrance to the Zoo during duration of internship, opportunities to attend special events and great experience to add to a resume. Zoo New England will also work with the intern to meet requirements for course credit, provide letters of reference for future job opportunities and create/enhance a personal portfolio.
