Dear students,
The primary mission of Roxbury Community College (RCC) is to meet the education needs of the diverse Boston metropolitan communities by offering accessible and quality post-secondary higher education learning opportunities. Online Education is one way we try to meet your needs, allowing you to learn at your own pace and at a time and location that is convenient to you.
In 2004, 2.35 million students studied online and the number has increased every year. This is not surprising because online learning provides the flexibility that many of you desire. It also has a reputation of being the new fun and exciting way to learn.
While this may be true, online education is not for everyone. Before you register for an online course, I recommend the following things:
- Work closely with your advisor to determine if the course itself and online education is right for you;
- Take ACS 102 The College Experience course;
- Review the Essentials for Online Learners and
- Fill out the Online Education Assessments to determine your compatibility with online education.

Also, please check out the What's New?
section to find out about our new initiatives.
I wish you a successful academic year on and offline!
