STEM LEAPs Grant Projects at RCC

RCC participates in three of the STEM initiatives that are led by the Leadership
Excellence Acceleration Projects (LEAPs) at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
These initiatives are:

  1. The Urban Massachusetts Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (UMLSAMP)
  2. Bridges to the Baccalaureate (Bridges)
  3. The Boston Science Partnership (BSP)

The Boston Science Partnership (BSP)

The Boston Science Partnership is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Its goal is to improve science education for all students in Boston from middle school through graduate school.

The strategy of the five-year science education reform program has been to create and maintain a core partnership of the Boston Public Schools with UMass Boston and Northeastern University. With support from Roxbury Community College and other local and national educational institutions, these core institutions collaborate to raise the standards for teacher training, teacher licensure and science course curriculum and to provide teacher training and course development. An essential component of this effort is the BSP’s Vertical Planning Institute.
