Introduction to Customer Service
CSA 5171Z1: Friday 4:00-5:30PM; 6 weeks; $150

Sign up for this course to acquire the basic customer service skills you may need to bring better quality and value to your place of employment.  Topics discussed in this class include issue resolution, team collaboration, meeting your customers’ needs, handling your clients’ frustration, etc.  You will also learn to train yourself in maintaining your composure and your professionalism in times of crises.  Employers are encouraged to consider this course for their staff’s professional development.

 


Food & Beverage Specialist
CSA 243 Z1: Wed 6:30-8:00PM; 8 weeks; $250

Food preparation in hotel, hospital, and restaurant kitchens is in demand and has become a great career opportunity in Boston.   Students will learn the composition of basic menus and recipes, weights and measures, standardization, kitchen procedures, safety and sanitation. This course prepares students for an entry level position as a Food & Beverage Specialist while introducing them to the culinary arts profession.


Catering & Event Planning:

CSA 240; Mon 6:30-8PM; 8 Weeks; $250

The Catering & Event Planning course is offered to enthusiastic individuals who wish to make a career in the culinary arts or hospitality industry and to those who would like to plan an upcoming event.  In this course, students will be taught how to handle multiple and increased responsibilities relative to hosting and serving food and beverage.  They will also learn techniques for food and beverage need assessment, while acquiring many other skills necessary to become reliable and flexible in any food service setting. Hands-on experiences taught in this course will enable students to practice and demonstrate their mastery of concepts and techniques learned.

 

 

Safe Serve Exam Preparation
CSA 555:  3 Saturdays: Feb 9, 16, 23; April 12, 19, 26 9:00 AM-2PM; Cost: $150 (books not included)

This course prepares culinary arts and those who are interested in working in food service to become Serve Safe certified as required by the State. Topics include:

  • Food Safety
  • Proper Personal Hygiene
  • Purchasing, Receiving, and Storing Food
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing
  • Food Safety (FDA) Regulations
