Before Dean, he helped Al-nur High School of Mansfield, MA, the state’s first Muslim high school, create a boy’s basketball program and served as its first head coach, a position he held for three years. The team amassed a record of 45-25 under his tutelage.

He also previously of worked as an assistant men’s basketball coach at New Mission High School in Roxbury and currently coaches an Amateur Athletic Union youth team.
Yahya’s RCC work will reunite him and with Leszcyk, who left Dean to become head coach of RCC’s women’s basketball team this year.  Together they will work to return the program to its once proud tradition of producing winning teams and helping student-athletes achieve classroom excellence. Along with providing practice and game support to Leszcyk , Yahya’s primary responsibility is to recruit Boston-area students to RCC.
