With over 15 years of experience coaching and instructing young men and women, Mark Reeves is a key figure in the effort to rebuild Roxbury Community College’s men’s basketball team.
Reeves, in his second year as assistant coach of the team, is responsible for managing the recruiting process and monitoring the academic progress and classroom attendance of players.
Reeves’ previous basketball associations include working as a coach and instructor at various high-profile basketball camps, coaching and playing in local Professional-Armature leagues and coaching in the Department of Youth Services (DYS) league.
Reeves is a distinguished human services professional, a career he began twenty-years ago while working as a group worker for DYS. After working for several years at DYS, he relocated to Washington, D.C., where he worked in a court diversion program run by Georgetown University. Next, he returned to Boston and became director of a specialized foster care program.
In 2003, with a goal of reaching more families and helping agencies better manage and develop services, Reeves started Reeves Enterprise Group (REG), which serves as the umbrella company for three organizations that he manages -- MDR Consulting (MDRC), New England Community Services (NECS), and New England Hoops Academy (NEHA). MDRC provides consulting expertise to human service agencies, NECS is an outreach program for high-risk DSS-involved youngsters, and NEHA is the one of the top overnight basketball camps in the Northeast.
Reeves was a founding board member of the Reggie Lewis Foundation. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice from Northeastern University and a Master’s degree in business administration from Framingham State College.
